Coronavirus Update

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. - Philippians 4:6-8 (ESV)

Update May 8

Church family, we want to provide you with information and the latest updates as we continue to monitor the Coronavirus (COVID-19) reports from the CDC, the State Health Department and the Knox County Health Department.

Update April 30

As our country moves into phases, we seek to make wise decisions so our church community can take appropriate steps to our new normal.

Steps to a "New Normal"

Step 1:
  • Continue to meet online on Sundays
  • Continue to meet through Zoom for Bible Study Group
  • Prayer Gatherings coming in May
Step 2:
  • Hoping to begin some in-person worship services towards the end of May/beginning of June
Steps 3 and 4 are future steps that we will take so that we can get back to the new normal as soon as it is safely possible to be back together again.

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:18-19

Remember church, God has not abandoned us. He is on His throne and we will continue to be the church that He has called us to be.

Our circumstances might have changed but our mission has not changed. God is doing something new with the time we have been given to slow down. Have your eyes on Him and those around you and let’s continue to inspire people to follow Jesus.

Update March 19

We continue to stay up-to-date about the news surrounding the Coronavirus and we are meeting with the task force team to make sure we are making the wisest decisions for our Concord family. We are committed to supporting and caring for our Concord family and community throughout this virus outbreak. One of the ways we can do that is to reduce the frequency, proximity and duration of contact between people, known as social distancing. Therefore…we are going digital! Our Sunday services will be ONLINE ONLY until we can gather in person again.

Practicing social distancing doesn’t mean we have to fall into isolation. Our teams have been working hard all week to prepare resources and experiences for you online during this time. You will hear more about these things in the coming days…but some of the online experiences we are working on include:

  • Worship Services on Sundays at 9 and 10:45 AM
  • Preschool Worship on Sundays at 8 AM
  • Elementary Worship on Sundays at 10:15 AM
  • Bible Study Groups on Zoom beginning March 29
  • Daily Devotionals with Pastors on Monday – Friday at noon
  • More activities and resources coming…
Our circumstances might have changed but our mission has not changed. God is doing something new with the time we have been given to slow down. Have your eyes on Him and those around you and let’s continue to inspire people to follow Jesus.

Update March 14

We created a task force comprised of church staff, as well as medical professionals and local officials. We are closely monitoring the evolving situation surrounding COVID-19. At this time, we plan to continue our regular services and groups at both campuses on Sundays. In addition, we are also adding the following measures:

  • We will have services at normal times on Sunday morning. If you fall into any of these categories: over the age of 60; sick; have an autoimmune disorder; or have illness in your family, at any age – we are going to ask for you to worship with us online or on Facebook.
  • f you have a healthy family and believe it is okay for you come – we will record those online services at 9 and 10:45 AM in the Worship Center.
  • Groups will not meet, Concord Students will not meet, Concord Kids (Rev and Level Up) will not meet, Choir/Orchestra will not meet on Sunday morning.
  • We will have preschool for Infants – PreK. Our Campus Ops teams have been deep cleaning our preschool area in preparation for tomorrow.
  • We are deep-cleaning the facility daily with hospital-grade, CDC-recommended solutions and we have approximately 150 hand sanitizer stations throughout the church.
  • We will not be passing the offering plates during services; however, we will have ushers by the door collecting at the end of each service. We also want to remind you of our other methods of giving, including our online giving page and texting “your giving amount” to 865-896-9742.

How You Can Pray

As followers of Christ, the first and most important thing we need to do is pray. Pray for God’s protection during this global pandemic and pray against the spread of any disease and for healing for those have the COVID-19 virus.

  • Pray for comfort and healing for those who have already contracted this virus and for their families.
  • Pray for protection over all of our medical professionals, the CDC and researchers as they tend to the sick while also risking their lives to protect ours.
  • Pray for wisdom for our governmental leaders and leaders in the Church.
  • Pray for a hedge of protection around those considered “at-heightened-risk”.
  • Pray for peace, freedom from fear, anxiety and panic among individuals and communities.
  • Pray for our many partners serving around our city, nation and world.
  • Pray that we would continue to be proactive in proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ.

What You Can Be Doing

  • Regard safety and travel advisories issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which can be found here.
  • Use wisdom and stay home if you are sick or feel sick and do not attend worship until symptom-free and fever-free for at least 24 hours.
  • If you have high-risk health conditions or are within a high-risk group, use discretion in attending a worship service.

The Farragut Campus worship services are streamed live, and all of our campuses’ services and/or sermons are archived by Tuesday evenings and can be viewed at any time.
