Steve Peek Pastor of Legacy Builders
Steve earned an undergraduate degree in Sociology and Psychology from Carson-Newman University. He earned his Master’s in Arts degree with an emphasis in Childhood Education from Southwestern Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas. Steve has had articles published in various Christian publications. He has led Preschool and Children’s Conferences in many locations throughout the U.S.
During his 36 years at Concord Steve has enjoyed getting to lead many different ministries. He served as Minister of Childhood Education for 18 years. He coordinated the Preschool, Children’s and Weekday Early Education Ministries. During this time, Concord began after school care, summer day camp, special needs ministry, and Concord Christian School. Steve then served as Concord’s first mission’s and pastoral care minister. During this time the church saw great growth in both ministries. The church began the Stephen Ministry, grief counseling, breast cancer support group, Survivors and Thrivers ministry for ladies who had lost their spouses and Handyman ministry. Steve is now the Minister of Legacy Builders for people 55 years and older and Special Needs Minister. The Special Needs Ministry provides a Sonshine class for adults on Sunday and Wednesday, special events for this group, and a ministry called Helping Hands. The Helping Hands Ministry provides this group with opportunities three day a week to serve in ministries in their church and community.
One of the greatest thrills Steve has experienced in his years of ministry has been to see many of the children he has ministered to accept Christ and then give him the honor of baptizing them. He has also had the honor of getting to perform several of their weddings. He has seen children in his ministry grow up to become Godly young men and women who are faithfully serving in their church, home and community. On the other end of the spectrum Steve has been honored to minster with a faithful group of adults who have been servants at Concord for many years. He has ministered faithfully to them during the good times and the difficult times of their lives. Steve has the gift of pastoral care to minister in hospitals, nursing homes, and the time when God calls his servants home to their heavenly home. He has been blessed with the gift of providing comfort in some of the most difficult situations his church family has walked through.
Steve is married to Millie whom he met during his college years. Millie is retired after teaching music 25 years in the Weekday Early Education Ministry. They have a son Chris who lives in Virginia Beach, Va. He is the director of the 700 Club. He and his wife Karen have a son Ryan. They have a daughter Rhonda who lives in Lakeland, Florida. She works at the regional office of Geico as a claims adjuster . She and her husband Chris have a son Danny. When Steve finds time he enjoys sports, reading, working out, and traveling.
Steve says, "It has been a joy to see God do some amazing things during the many years God has allowed me to serve here at First Baptist Concord."
